Blu-ray and HD DVD Hardware, Software and Blank Media Discuss, Inexpensive Blu-Ray Computer Reader at International Chat: High Definition forum; I need a BlueRay reader that is inexpensive and that can read disks. I love the XBox-360 hooked up to my CPU, and though I know there is nothing quite that inexpensive for BlueRay, I am hoping there is some solution. Thanks GJ

Re: Inexpensive BlueRay Computer Reader

It's not as cheap as XBOX HD-DVD player ($179 + 7 HD-DVD movies) but these are currently the cheapest reader:

$259 Pioneer BDC-202BK 5x Blu-ray Reader http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827129015

$275 LG GGC-H20L 6x/3x Blu-ray/HD-DVD Reader http://www.ncixus.com/products/index.php?sku=26553 (currently out of stock)

Re: Inexpensive BlueRay Computer Reader

I know the OP asked about BLU-RAY but HD-DVD Players are really coming down in price and they are not waiting for the holiday season.
Wal-Mart is dropping the price of the Toshiba 1080i HD-A2 HD DVD player to $198 USD starting on November 3rd. I think most folks cant even tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p unless the screens are next to each other.
Circuit City has begun selling the player also at the same price. At last check, it was in stock at most stores and online even included free shipping. So I think the Blu-Ray players will also come down in price very soon. I think after Christmas we will see these units under 100USD, remember this is just my opinion, I have seen it happen before.
