Re: I just got my first Blu-Ray burner! Whaddo I do? Whaddo I do?? Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL discs (MKM001, made in Singapore) are available at some major retail chains here in Germany, a 10 disc cakebox for 19.95 EUR, that's less than 2 EUR a disc.

Re: I just got my first Blu-Ray burner! Whaddo I do? Whaddo I do?? Well they aren't available here, at that price, in the shops I have been too and I live in a major city. 25Gb RW for £14.50 still isn't bad. I wonder how much it will drop by as time goes on?

Re: I just got my first Blu-Ray burner! Whaddo I do? Whaddo I do?? Given what I said about the avaiability of DL-/+R where I live, remember I can't shop online, 5 x 8.4= 42Gb. For £1 less than a pack of 5 Verb DLs I would get 50Gb RW. The actual value would be based on how well they performed. Therefore on a price comparison they aren't that bad. Ofcourse this doesn't take into account the cost of the drive, and being me I would wait until I either realy needed to change or there was a significant price reduction.

Re: I just got my first Blu-Ray burner! Whaddo I do? Whaddo I do?? Given conversion and what is available where I am I would happily pay $6 for a DL as that would be ~£3.45 , as it is only 5 packs are avaialable and they are £29.99 which works out at ~$52.18 so it is ~$10.44 each. 50Gig would be buying two discs. As I said I would most probably wait until the prices seriously came down or there was an absolute need to upgrade.

| Re: I just got my first Blu-Ray burner! Whaddo I do? Whaddo I do?? Come on CDFreaks, they have them at Elegant Shopping for only $1050.00. Get testing!!!! "In stock and available for testing", whatever that means. No mention anywhere on where to get media. Also, your current video card and monitor won't play back the output so it's about as useful as my dead HP400C.

Re: I just got my first Blu-Ray burner! Whaddo I do? Whaddo I do?? Gee, I hope an updated driver is released for current users. I can see myself getting a 12x DVD-RAM soon (or 16x) before BD/HD becomes "affordable". I would like the Metadata feature in Matsushita's rather than settling for Ahead's. As for backing up 500GB... while good DVD's may be relatively inexpensive (about $30) compared to HDD(s) (two 250GB's would probably be cheapest at about $160), when time and reliability are factored in the cost difference becomes less relevant -especially if each of those DVD's are interdependent so that if one fails they all become useless.
