I haven't bought any movies from either format. But for the BD media I have burned, I store them in the original jewel cases they came in.

They're not more likely to be damaged by storing in sleeves, but they may be more susceptible to issues caused by the damage that sleeves do create. In other words, I wouldn't store any discs in sleeves.

Actually, yes, that was more the question I was wondering about.

I store CDs and DVDs in binders, because I have so damn many of them I couldn't not (in my small apartment). :-/

The DVDs don't appear to get scuffed or scratched, though the CDs occasionally do, for some reason. I haven't noticed the DVDs playing any less well, though. I wonder if the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray's will... you'd think they'd have even more protective coatings and better error correction with these new technologies.

Re: HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Storage - binders safe?

BD/ HD DVD recordable media has it own protective coatings so it is binder safe. But nevertheless, it's expensive compares to CD/DVD so like others have mentioned, I would put them in a single case.

While we're at it, there are BD/HD case ($.75 each): http://www.sleevetown.com/blu-ray-hd-dvd-case.shtml
