You have to use HD-Blu-Ray type of recordable discs? Will one disc work for both types? A regular 8.5 DVD DL Disc won't work? Are HD & Blu-Ray Movies 25GB? Just starting to learn about HD & Blu-Ray.

I hope by HD you mean High Definition, not HD-DVD which is gone.

To make a blu-ray from hidef camcorder, or from hidef cable box, or record to a blu-ray recorder, yes you need to use Blu-ray media, called BD-R (write once) or BD-RE (rewriteable).

Ok so you meant HD DVD and Blu-ray. No they don't work. HD DVD disc can only play on HD DVD player. Blu-ray disc can only play on Blu-ray player. However there is Samsung and LG combo Blu-ray/HD DVD player. LG BH200 is around US$ 600.

For PC, LG GGW-H20L can burn to blu-ray and also read HD DVD (can't burn HD DVD), around $275-300. The player only, LG GGC-H20L plays both Blu-ray and HD DVD movies is less than $200.

It will work but you still need a blu-ray or hd dvd player to play back.
