Do you know that you can use XBOX HD-DVD drive and watch HD-DVD movies in your PC?

This might not be new news for some, but I asked two of my cdfreaks friends and they didn't know.

Yes you don't need the XBOX 360 console, you can connect XBOX HD-DVD player directly to your PC's USB2.0 port and with a little tweak, watch HD-DVD movies on your PC monitor or run a DVI-to-HDMI cable to your HDTV display.

In the US, XBOX HD-DVD player is currently on sale at buy.com for $165 plus 2 HD-DVD movies (KingKong and Heroes Season 1) and 5 more HD-DVD movies in the mail. The Heroes Season 1 itself is worth $70.

Re: Do you know that you can use XBOX HD-DVD drive and watch HD-DVD movies in your PC?

Has anyone backed up one of their HD-DVDs to a standard DVD (downconverted to 480p), to watch in a different room of the house with only a standard TV and DVD player? If so, I might buy an X-Box 360 drive to do that.

Looks like the drive is also available for $179 at CompUSA ,for people who live near one.
