Convert .ts & evo files

I saw Zevia's previous thread on how to burn a blu-ray movie to a dual-layer dvd and playable on any blu-ray player, but what I was wondering if anyone has found a good method of converting bith blu-ray and hd dvd files to maybe, avi, mkv or just anything other than the orginals. I want to be able to burn blu-ray and hd dvd movies and play on a "standard" dvd. Any thoughts would help a lot.

Re: Convert .ts & evo files

There's a few applications that support the HD video files, and allow re-encoding to other formats. Nero, Ulead, Pinnacle and a couple others come to mind. You do need to purchase an additional HD plugin license. The best route is usually to convert to a MPEG2 file with 720x480 res and then author a DVD. Depending on the bitrates you use, results could be quite good.

Re: Convert .ts & evo files

What version of Nero supports the encoding? I have 7 Essentials and I see that there is Blu-ray and HDDVD authoring, but I did not see any re-encoding options? I kind of want to keep the res the same, just convert it to something that is playable either on my 360 or a standard pc dvd reader.

Also I have Ulead 2.5 installed. I just switched from Cd Direct or DirectCD. I was not happy with it so I was able to get Ulead 2.5 from a Plextor blu-ray install disk. How would you re-encode using that program? Sorry for the newb questions.

You need Ulead VS11 or MovieFactory6 or Nero8 with the HD packs, same for Pinnacle. But in order to get HD video streams into any of those programs they first have to be TS or M2TS with demuxed audio (5:1 at 448 or lower).

Re: Convert .ts & evo files

I see I see. We actually have Ulead VS 11 where I work, so I might give that a try. I do not have a problem with the demuxing part, just what to do with it after the fact. I will give it a try and see what happens. Thanks for the help.

Re: Convert .ts & evo files

Would it be better to convert from DVD version instead from Blu-ray or HD DVD?

That's my own opinion. Any content that's available in HD will also have a high-quality DVD version available. Not worth the time and effort, IMHO, to convert.

Now, if we ever get a player that can play 720p H-264 or DIVX media files from DVD, I'm in.

I think using an external hdd is really easier.

PS3.

Or GoWell: http://www.gowellent.net/product%20w...ries/G875.html

Or you can browse List of device that support H.264 and cross check the devices for DivX support.
