As the drive is based on the Panasonic SW-5582, the Q-Check options in Plextools Professional (XL/LE) are not supported.

To sum it up.

Is it better than the Pana drive?

Re: CDFreaks presents: The Plextor PX-B900A Blu-ray Review

Hello,

I saw that PX-B900A can write the BD-R with SRM-LOW (Sequential Recording with logical Overwrite) method (is the same that SRM-POW). I know that I can use defect management on BD-R with this burning method.

Can I configure Nero to use this burning method ?

Can I use the defect management with this burner on BD-R ?

Thanks

Yeah! Finally another FULL Review!
Thanks Jan70!

EDIT: phenixfx, I'm not sure whether defect management on write-once media makes any sense...

Hi phenixfx and welcome to our forum.

The BD defect management for blank discs can be set in Nero under:

Re: CDFreaks presents: The Plextor PX-B900A Blu-ray Review

Why ?

I thing is a good thing because, if theire are a problem with a block during the burning (because theire are dust or stripe on the media), the burner can write the bad block in a spare area of the disk. Like you have less error possible. Either on BD-R i thing is a good thing.

are you agree with me ?

Re: CDFreaks presents: The Plextor PX-B900A Blu-ray Review

Oki thanks Jan70,

Where can I choose the SRM+LOW (or SRM+POW) option in Nero ?

Is it available for all file system UDF2.6, UDF 2.5, ISO9660.

When the session is closed, the burner can't recover the bad block I think and I can have only one session.

Do you know if the defect management functions well ?.

Thanks

Re: CDFreaks presents: The Plextor PX-B900A Blu-ray Review

well after peeing around and ordering the Lite-On LH-2B1S and discovering it was a bd-r dl burner, i put it back in the shipping box without even opening up the drive box, emailed newegg for an rma and waiting to ship this thing (lh-2b1s) back.

i just ordered a px-b900a instead. i already ordered bd-r dl media in anticipation of burning with the lh-2b1s. well had to have a px-b900a just to support the dl media.

the only drawback i've read is the pata interface. why doesn't plextor use sata on their devices? most of their best products are pata based. well i'll have to enable the ide interface in bios i guess on my striker extreme.

anyone got the px-b900a? how do you like it? this is really the only bd-r dl burner i could find available other than the panasonic, which i couldn't find available online for purchase.

well, can't wait to get it.

Re: CDFreaks presents: The Plextor PX-B900A Blu-ray Review

just thought i would re-post and say that i received my px-b900a the other day and finally had a chance to install it last night. so far this is a very nice drive and i have to agree with the review. i haven't had a chance to fully utilize it, i did burn one 25gb re-writable image and test it.

the image (dragons lair by digital leisure) seems to work fine on the px-b900a / pc, it boots up and runs fine, but the disc isn't recognized in my ps3, so i don't know if the ps3 supports bd-re media or not. i'm gonna burn the image (dragons lair by digital leisure) onto a bd-r and test it again.

the drive is a little pricey, but i wanted a bd-r dl burning drive. i think the panasonic bd-r dl drive is the same drive, but plextor just slapped their name on it, the drive uses the panasonic chipset as mentioned in the review.
