Bluray Backup And Recording Questions...

hello,

yesterday i have received my first bluray burner (GGW-H20L) - cool drive.

thats why i have some questions:

1. using anydvd-hd and copy the whole bluray movie disc (without aacs folder, due to anydvd-hd removes it) under windows explorer (vista) to the hard disk - it it possible to create a back up BD-RE disc with nero 8/udf2.5, which runs in a standalone player?

2. i have some TS-files recorded with my tv-card in 1920x1080 - is there a possibility to create a BD-R(E) disc which runs in a standalone player?

3. is it possible to convert HD-DVD movies (*.evo) into bluray format?

thx

Re: Bluray Backup And Recording Questions...

Yes the GGW-H20L is a nice drive.

1. Yes it's possible if it fits the BD-RE. If it doesn't fit, you need to tweak it a bit, ie remove the un-needed audio streams etc.

2. Yes, you can use TsRemux (search google), and create a Blu-ray from your TS file. Post here again if you have problem with it.

3. Yes it's possible to convert HD DVD to Blu-ray but a lot of work, since most of the time you need to convert both the video and audio. HD DVD frame rate is not the same with Blu-ray (video) and most HD DVD uses Dolby Digital Plus which is not supported by Blu-ray and you need to convert to Dolby Digital. Then after these conversions you need to pack it again then create a Blu-ray compliant disc. Then try on your standalone to see if the video and audio are synchronised, if not start over. But many people finds it an interesting task to play around with.

Re: Bluray Backup And Recording Questions...

Great.

If you can burn a movie to your BD-RE DL disc and try in your standalone, I'm interested to know if your standalone will recognize and play it. Let us know.
