| Blu-Ray Backup Problems Hello, I'm following the guide for Blu-Ray backups and I was hoping someone could help me figure out a couple of things. 1) I installed Java and it says to copy "java.exe" into the "run" folder that was extracted from BackupBlurayv021. Where is this java.exe file located. I did a search on my computer and it came up with several files named "java". I'm not sure which one I need to copy into that "run" folder. 2) How do you use BDkeyfinder? I have WinDVD8 running and I have my BD movie in the drive but when I hit the "get keys" button it says it can't find the keys in WinDVD's memory. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

| Re: Blu-Ray Backup Problems To find java.exe, you need to show extensions in Explorer. In XP, go to My Computer, then Tools > Folder Options > View tab > uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". As for the 2nd question regarding BDkeyfinder, maybe someone can answer as I never use it. As mentioned in the Backup Blu-ray thread, the guide was a very early method. At the moment I would recommend using AnyDVD HD (30 days trial).

| Re: Blu-Ray Backup Problems Forgive me for being naive but can somebody tell me what you would do using AnyDVD HD? I have it running and it says that is removed the copy protection and the region. So how exactly do I backup the movie now? Sorry but I'm not at all good at this. I'm used to using DVDShrink but obviously I don't want to shrink this movie (Superbad). I want to back it up to a BD-R. Thanks for any help. |

| Re: Blu-Ray Backup Problems bigdog1002, it's perfectly fine to ask any question so please don't hesitate. ![]() Right click on the AnyDVD icon in your taskbar, and choose "Rip Video DVD to Harddisk...". It will open up a window called "AnyDVD Ripper". Then select your drive (assuming a BD/HD disc is inserted). Select destination directory and click "Copy DVD" and it will start ripping your movie. I don't have Superbad, can you tell us what does AnyDVD says about the filesize, it might not fit BD-R.

On another note, I noticed on another thread you said something about removing some audio streams to get the file size down. How would you do that and how much space can you typically save? Last edited by bigdog1002; 30-01-2008 at 18:45. Reason: More info | |

On a 2+ hours movie, the lossless PCM can be around 3-5GB, a single Dolby Digital around 400-800MB. You can also trim the end credits. ![]()
