Maybe worth a try: - Can you playback the .ts file on your PC and does the audio work? - how about demuxing the DD audio stream to an ac3 file and playback, can you hear the audio?

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide I've followed all the steps from the guide and managed to burn the blu-ray rip on the dvd. It plays flawless on the pc. On the other hand, the ps3 (fw 2.1) recognizes the the dvd as AVCHD dvd-rw but the playback is full of artifacts. Anybody has any idea? Thanks. |

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide What title is it? If it's a BD+ protected title this is exactly the kind of thing you'll see.

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide I used a cheap media but the result was the same when I played the m2ts file on the ps3 using an external hd. The bd was live free or die hard. I used anydvd hd to save it on the hard disk and it doesn't show any artifact when I play it on the pc. I did the same process with a mpeg-2 bd (little man) and it plays flawless on both the computer and the ps3. I also played the 1 min cars m2ts file on the ps3 and it showed a few artifacts for less then a second, the rest of the clip was perfect (59 sec). Thanks for the replies. |

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide Live Free or Die Hard has BD+ protection on it. So while you can play it in PowerDVD Ultra after ripping it with AnyDVD HD, the BD+ protection isn't removed so you can't process the m2ts. Hopefully Slysoft will get a true solution for BD+ titles out sometime soon.

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide Thanks for confirming SamuriHL. Yes BD+ title (ie Fantastic 4, Live Free or Die Hard) is a problem right now, even burning on BD-R/RE will show artifacts/pixelate every 2-3 seconds.

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide Yea, I don't understand the BD-R/RE issue at all. It plays from a BD-R/RE in PowerDVD Ultra from what I've read (I don't have any burners for HD media myself) but it won't play on the PS3 which is odd. Like I said, Slysoft appears to be working on it and should have a more permanent fix at some point that'll remove it altogether. I can understand why they don't like BD, but, that's another topic in and of itself. In any case, this very sweet method of backup will work on all non-BD+ protected titles.

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide SamuriHL, I can confirm that with BD+ movies, playback from harddrive or BD-R/RE on PC is not 100% fine, no artifacts but more like skipping or pauses every few seconds.

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide the live free or die hard bd rip did freeze a lot on my pc, but it showed no artifacts so I thought the problem was with my old video card which I'm upgrading soon. So I guess the problem is realy this bd+ protection. thanks guys |

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide Fascinating. The only BD+ title I have right now is FF:RotSS and that plays just fine for me. I'm sure I'll run into this issue as I buy future Fox titles.

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide So, I'm just now getting around to trying a variation on this theme. Here's what I'm attempting: -Ripped the ISO from the PS3 to my external NTFS formatted hard drive. -Opened the m2ts with tsremux and selected the AVC video stream and 2 of the audio tracks. -Set it to Blu-ray output to create a new Blu-ray file structure of just the main movie and a couple audio tracks Once that's done my plan is to use Nero 8 to make an ISO image of the newly created file structure on the hard drive. The point of this? I want to create a smaller, movie only ISO image of my Blu-ray disc to store on my HTPC. NOTE: Currently this process will *NOT* work on BD+ protected discs as I'm sure we're all aware. At some point I am hopeful that Slysoft will eliminate that problem for us, as well. Anyway, I'll post back tomorrow to let you know if this concept will work. (I can't see why it wouldn't...it's the same process as originally posted except splitting and burning to DVD). The big question is how small can I make the 37 gig m2ts stream using this process. I'm guessing it should be quite a bit smaller, however, I DID keep the lossless audio. I probably won't do that in the future because I don't have equipment that can utilize that anyway.

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide I supposed that you don't have a blu-ray player or PS3 to test, SamuriHL? Edit: What title is it if you don't mind, maybe I can try it out.

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide I have a PS3 which is how I rip my movies in the first place. However, since I don't have any way of burning media then I can't really do much to test it other than mount the ISO and play it in PowerDVD. That's exactly my goal anyway so if it doesn't work there it's not good to me even if it did work on the PS3. I'll attempt it again and see what I can come up with. I know...split it and burn it to DVD, right? sigh...I wanted to avoid doing that.

| Re: BD2DVD: Blu-ray to DVD guide Do you have an external harddrive with USB2 by any chance? Or a big (1-2GB) USB stick. I once tried tsremux and cancel after I see the m2ts around 500mb, then copy the m2ts to the usb stick, plug it in and playback on the ps3. Works for "testing" before burning.
