BD/HD Questions/Tools?

Ok, now since I have the H20L, I have few questions.

Is PowerDVD, Showtime, WinDVD only way to play back BD/HD movies? I'm the type of person that likes the least of stuff installed on my PC.

Any way to Author BD menus?

Any way to record DVD content on BD media (5-7 dvd on one BD)? So its still would play on BD player?

Can HD-DVD movie be backed up on BD media?

Any way to check streams in BD and HD-DVD content?

What would be the best way to convert BD/HD movie into some single file (MKV etc..)

Re: BD/HD Questions/Tools?

I have been working on HD-DVD to Blu-ray but have come to a stumbling block.

I can get Video but not Audio, this is from the hard drive and not burned to disc though as I don't have a Blu-ray burner YET.

I think a lack of tools to do the job is the only problem at this point, once more burners get into everyones hands I think this will change quickly.

Right now I prefer PowerDVD for BD/HD movies, works very well and plays BD/HD content from your hard drive also. I am not a fan of Showtime (just don't like the interface) and you will need to purchase the BD/HD plugins for Hi-def playback.

Don't know anything about WinDVD sorry.

Check out VLC and Media Player (Classic and newer ones) but you will need some decoders. I personally like PowerDVD Ultra. But for opening individual m2ts, Nero ShowTime loads faster in my machine.

Many, including Sonic Scenarist and Roxio DVDit Pro HD.

I don't know about this yet.

Yes. You can use TsRemux for this but since HD DVD often uses DD+ (Dolby Digital Plus) which is not recognize by Blu-ray formats, you will need to convert DD+ to DD with a tool called eac3to (you need Nero 7 installed since it uses one of the drivers).

For BD, open the m2ts with BDEdit. I think there's lots of tools online that can "tweak" these new BD and HD DVD content.

Re: BD/HD Questions/Tools?

wow, both Sonic Scenarist and Roxio DVDit Pro HD cost about 300$ dollars.

I was thinking about trying Ulead Videoworkshop or Cyberlink PowerProducer
