Anyone here owning a blu-ray or HD-DVD device, or why not?

I'm also very curious what your first experiences were with the equipment. And if you haven't bought it, do you already keep an eye on your current hardware to see if it will be compatible with the new standards when you are going to buy equipment in the future?

I have a PC that can handle either format or both. I am holding out till they get the prices of the BluRay DVD Burner Drive down at 200.00 USD then I'll buy into that. HD I can't even look into that as there is no standalone HD-DVD Burners out there just yet, so the waiting game is all that's holding me back.

This is not a bad idea, it can be very costly to be the first to buy into any new technology. Look at the prices of cd burners and look at dvd burners now. They are better, quicker and cheaper. Thats why I will wait at least another12 months before I consider buying into the new format. (whichever one that will be)

"HD-DVD or BD device" is a pretty broad category. Is this about PC drives or stand-alones?

In either case, no thanks for me, nothing really to be gained from owning one.

I'd love to own a dual format reader. But i cant find one, at least not at a reasonable price.
