is amd sempron 3000+ good for back up?

i do no twish to watch blueray movies on my pc just back them up to harddrive with any dvd,then copy them to dvd9 with the guide..but my computer is has amd sempron 3000+,with 512 ram and 160 gig..is this good enough just to read the disc?

Ripping the BD files to HDD requires no more CPU power than ripping any other disc. However, if you need to re-encode the video to get smaller files, it will take a very, very long time.

for instance re-encoding 2 hour movie on dual core AMD 4400+ with 2gb of ram takes about 30-40 hours with 2 pass

what is re-encoding? all i want to do is rip to hard drive use tsremux to cut out extra and title and then burn with img...will this be good enough?
