Quiet failures with CRC

Hi, I am using DVD Ripper Platinum 4.0.87 and occaisionally I find when I come to watch films from my media server that they are incomplete, i.e. they end before the film should finish.

The movies themselves when converted appeared to complete successfully, they report completed in the status, it's only much later when I watch them I found they didn't.

I finally tracked down the cause, the affected movies had CRC errors on the original disc at about the point the ripped movie ends, if I try and copy the vob files with other software I see the errors, but ImToo gives me no clue I needed to take the DVD out and clean it ;-)

Am I the only one experiencing this, or is it something that can be remedied in a future release please?

Do you have the unregistered one? The software could rip the DVD until it meets the bad disk sector.
Thank you for your advice, we will improve the software in the future.

Hi, No I have registered the software as I find it very valuable.

And yes it does rip the DVD until it meets the bad sector, the only annoying thing is that you don't know you haven't got the end of the movie, until you are sat watching it ;-)

But if the source disc is bad, we could do nothing.

Yes I appreciate there is nothing the software could do to correct the problem with the CRC. My objection is that ImToo tells me the processing is "Complete" and gives me no indication that it actually "Failed".

As a result I store the allegedly completed movie on my server, and find out when I come to watch it, that it is broken.

Whereas, if the software when it detected the bad sector (which I'm assuming it does know it has hit a bad sector), issued an error message telling me it had encountered a CRC error, then I could possibly remedy the problem by cleaning the disk
