newbie question: jumpy video and sound

Hi there,
I'm a web designer and have never needed to work with video until now =)

I have a 26 minute documentary (dvd) that i need to convert to MPG. My client wants this video viewable on his site. I chose the output profile to be "MPEG-1 Movie (*.mpg)" and i left all the default settings. After it's done i open the source folder and double click the file. It opens in my windows media player... and it's not good news.... the video and sound just jumps around all over the place. It's un-watchable.

Can anyone suggest what i'm doing wrong here? Is MPG the best profile to be using for 320x240 web output? I chose mpeg 1 b/c i figured it would be a smaller file size.

My ultimate goal is to bring this video file into ProShow Producer and split it up & export into 3 or 4 video clips (streaming flash) so that the load time would be alot faster. I wanted to be able to add an extra slide at the end of each one that said "to continue viewing proceed to the next video file" or something like that. I chose to use MPG b/c Producer accepts that kind of input file, among many others, but it does not accept VOB files, which is why i just bought IMTOO dvd ripper platinum just today.... so that i could convert my DVD file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks so much!

Re: newbie question: jumpy video and sound

Hi Tiffany,
There're some suggestions you can try first.
You can set the profile as MP4 or AVI format. The output file quality will be better than MPEG-1.
Be sure which format the website support.
If the site only support the MPEG-1 format, after choose the profile, set the video bit rate a little lower than the default setting.
The file size usually depends on the resolution and bit rate. So if you want a small size file to upload to website, a lower bit rate is better.
