Help needed with imtoo please

Hi! I have just got a dvd player that will play Divx files, I would like to convert my dvds to this format to save storage space. I have got Imtoo but I am unsure of what settings I need to use to get a divx file the right size to fit my wide screen tv I think that most of the dvds I am ripping ar 16:9 so can any one give me a list of the settings I need to use in imtoo to get the best right size format to make a divx file of around 1gig so that I can get 3 or four films on to one dvd, or is there a better ripping programme that I should be using. Many Thanks.

Re: Help needed with imtoo please

Doesn't this software come with any instructions..?

Never used it, but:
  1. Set aspect ratio to 16:9 and a target size of 1 GB. If it's as good as they say then it should work out the screen resolutions and bitrate stuff for you.
  2. Oh, and if you want better compatibility with other players, de-select Qpel, GMC and packed bitstream (if they are there as options).
  3. Err... that's it.

Re: Help needed with imtoo please

It's not as simple as that it I let imtoo choose auto for width and hight I end up with a long tall fillm in the middle of the screen so it seems as if I have to tell the programme what width and hight I want to out put, but what should I choose to give me the right size for a 16:9 screen.

Re: Help needed with imtoo please

things have got worse now! I re-coded a dvd using 688x352 which seemed to look right on the screen, it seemed ok and played in media center ok, but when I tried to play it in my usual Crystal player it plays at 100mph whats hapining here????

Hi, crazykenhall
On the left of the interface of the imtoo's product, you could change the "vdieo size", I think 720x480 the right size to fit your wide screen tv, and you could also change the "video bit rate", it will make the video more clearly, not too hight, 2500,3000 is better
