DARN !!! I've been reading thread after thread on alot of forums on how to convert DVD files to MPG files for editting, and then, back again to DVD files. I'm left with nothing but confusion and frustration.
I recorded some video with my stand-alone DVD recorder attached to my TV and VCR. All I want to do now is take the DVD to my computer and make menus, edit out some commercials, etc., and possibly add a stills gallery to make a new DVD. Other forums show ways to do this using about 6 different programs to accomplish that simple task....making it EXTREMELY complicated.
O.K. I understand that you may have to convert the DVD files into MPEG files to work with them. That, in itself, turns out to be a major complicated task. Editting is easy if you have mpeg files. THEN, you have to convert these files BACK into DVD files.
Someone suggested just changing the file extension of VOBs to MPG, do the sditting, then change them back. I'm pretty computer literate, but unless I'm mistaken, Windows XP won't allow you to do that.
Isn't there a simpler way to do all this? Someone needs to write a program to do that.
