Windows 64bit doesnt start

Hi,

I have had my current setup for around a year now and had no serious problems. On monday i came back to my computer to find out that my pc had restarted after being left on at login screen. I restarted my pc at that point as it had a error message which i cannot remember now what it said. Now when i restarted my computer i found that after the operating system loading screen it restarted EVERYTIME. I then came up with the F8 menu without me touching the keyboard so i selected last known configuration that worked. The same thing happened, it got no further than loading the OS. So when the F8 menu appeared again i tried to open in safe mode, which started to load then restarts aswell! I have tried everything in the F8 menu. I have also cleared the CMOS settings. I have been trying to reformat my harddrive as it seems to me this is most likely the problem but my computer wont boot off the windows discs!!

I have been trying for the last 5 days to fix this with no luck I am in desprate need of help before i get to the poont were i will be throwing my computer out of my window. Please help as this is very frustrating and i am begining to loose hope

Thanks in advance,
Tandoh

Re: Windows 64bit doesnt start

Basic troubleshooting steps would include removing EVERYTHING from the motherboard and try booting with the simplest possible configuration. Reset CMOS, following the appropriate instructions for your board. Then, boot with just a floppy or CD drive and nothing else except video attached. Also you should get the diagnostic utilities from your hard drive maker and run a full set of tests on the hard drive. These will run from a floppy or CD. Open the case and thoroughly clean the CPU cooler and every thing else too. Re-seat all power connectors, IDE cables, etc. You'll also want to run memory tests, use Memtest86 and run it overnight from a floppy or CD.

Re: Windows 64bit doesnt start

Sounds like it could be a power supply problem also
