Hard Drive Discuss, SATA's Native Command Queuing (NCQ) at International Chat: Hardware related forum; Does SATA's Native Command Queuing (NCQ) actually make a difference in performance? I've used a lot of PATA and a lot of SATA drives and didn't really notice anything in real-world usage

Sneaker Fun Fact: When Circa was developing a pro shoe for Chad Muska, he requested a stash pocket to run the entire length of the tongue. When designers asked The Muska if he really needed that much stash room, he replied, “Yo, I gots a lotta weed to fit in there, man!”

Re: SATA's Native Command Queuing (NCQ)

NCQ is an implementation in SATA2 of a well know technique used 10+ years in SCSI drives. In real world apps theres no improvement. In server type applications when multitasking and simultaneous data access will be heavy NCQ will help to organize the flow of requests ( read /write ) between the drive controller and the SATA interface.

Resume: will benefit multitasks and multithreads apps ( data intensive )
