New HDD config...?

Hi ALL,

I currently have a 160GB SATA HDD and a Pioneer DVD 109XL. HDD is on SATA0 port and DVD Burner is on IDE2 (Secondary IDE port). I want to install a second HDD...but what would be my best option for optimum DVD ripping/burning speeds..? IDE or SATA....IDE1 or IDE2...primary or slave drive...etc?

Sorry if this seems like a silly question..
Cheers

Re: New HDD config...?

SATA for sure. No master/slave with SATA, everything is on it's own port.

Re: New HDD config...?

I have a Gigabyte 8IPE775 Pro MB which has two IDE ports labelled IDE0 and IDE1 and two SATA ports labelled SATA0 and SATA1. Currently I have my SYstem hard disk in SATA0 and my PIoneer DVD burner in IDE1. What would be the best way to connect a second SATA HDD purely for ripping onto from DVD?

I guess it would have to go into SATA1....that part is pretty logocal....but would that then be sharing with my DVD burner which is on IDE1 or is SATA and IDE completely seperate????
