| Maxtor SATA II 7200RPM 16MB buffer HDD One of the first SATA II HDD. Released a while ago. Prices falling nicely. http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/akiba....html#e9bs_730 There are 8MB buffer models and 16MB buffer models. The price differene is not large considering the 8MB difference for 300,000MB space for millions of rewriting.

Actually this drive is on my new computer wish list after seeing it on TomsHardware Guide site. | Re: Maxtor SATA II 7200RPM 16MB buffer HDD It was often discussed at StorageReview.com discussion boards. I've been waiting for S-ATA II drives since about 2001-2002. I can't remember all but WD and Hitachi have also started supporting SATA II features in some of their latest drives and firmware. However, Maxtor 300GB is a lot more cost-effective than WD 74GB Raptor for those who want more space as well as performance.
