| Hard drive won't spin up to speed I've put this off for about 10 years. I have an old Comtrade desktop with a scsi drive that won't spin up to speed to start the OS. It makes a whirring sound as if it is speeding up and the drive light lights up showing activity, but then it shuts down and this cycle continues. It's almost like trying to start your car and the starter doesn't catch completely. Yesterday, I tried the freezer trick and the results didn't change. Checking some forums online, it looks like the logic board might be my next best choice. Anyone else seen anything like this before or are there any suggestions? I've got quite a few years worth of genealogy work on the drive and, as luck would have it, no decent back ups. |
