| Hard Disks Hi In the Power Options settings, do you ever Turn off hard disks? I usually leave my PC on during the weekend and I was wondering if leaving the hard disks on all the time, is acceptable. Stelios

| Most current drives are designed to run 24/7. There's also one school of thought that says that turning it off and on causes more wear than leaving it on. The thermal cycling caused can also create wear. Check your drive's life ratings, they should be 70,000 hours or more. (mine are 1.2 million hours). The only thing I use Power Manangement for is to shut down the monitor. Most people who report drive failure state that it failed when it was being started up cold. |
