Re: Folding@Home New Member Introductions and Welcomes

Marcus, can you explain how did it crashed?

My E6600 @3.6Ghz 1.525 VCore was Orthos stable almost 20hours (temp 70C load eek!) but when running one of the SMP project (I think it was 2610) my PC restarted! Tried again and it restarted again without warning. Set it down to 390FSBx9 (3.5Ghz) now running good for almost 8 days 24/7.

So I'm becoming to believe that Windows SMP that utilized 100% CPU is a better stress test compared to SuperPI or Orthos. I saw some comments about this in the FAH community forum as well.

48C under full load? Wish mine was that low, I'm in the 50's

But as long as I get no EUEs and my PC doesn't crash, I'm happy

Before you run FAH.exe, you need to run Install.bat and make sure you see these two lines at the end:

If you see this twice, MPI is working
If you see this twice, MPI is working

If you don't see the above, then there's a problem, post the screenie here please.

Re: Folding@Home New Member Introductions and Welcomes

I have the SMP client running OK on my WS2003 machine, install.bat was OK too. I don't recall that it needed boot when running install.bat on it. But you will need to run install.bat only once so that smpd.exe and mpiexec.exe are installed as process then you can fold away.

@Dee, lol 48C on 100% load is COOL.

Added: Marcus, maybe you need to pass the firewall? Or did you install .NET 2.0?

Nice Dee!! A bag of ice cubes and a fan in front of your pc might help. On Loan? You mean like an ES. (Engineering sample)
@ zevia just got back off a holiday and it's too hot (35 deg c) for folding right now.

I love life...Yeah, I'm sad, but at the same time, I'm really happy that something could make me feel that sad. It's like...It makes me feel alive, you know. It makes me feel human. The only way I could feel this sad now is if I felt something really good before. So I have to take the bad with the good. So I guess what I'm feeling is like a beautiful sadness.

Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air.

The truth can be found here http://jhtalisman.blogspot.com/

The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them-words shrink things that seemed limitless when in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for the want of an understanding ear. - Stephen King, intro to "The Body."
