Thanks. Not to worry about me passing you, I just wanted to get into the 6 digits. Now I can fold casually on the weekends.

Congrats crossg on making 100K

Now a question
Your Quad. Is it a Q6600 B0? and at which speed?

Yes the one I am running now is a Q6600 G0 @ 3510. I accidently got some thermal paste on my P5K Premium socket so I sent it back to Asus to repair or clean at my expense. I might turn that and my B3 chip into a cruncher when I get it back.

Admitting that you've illegally downloaded movies/songs and need help to process/burn is comparable to robbing a bank, and walking into the bank the next day holding the bags of money to deposit them into your account.
Don't be surprised if people laugh at you when you make the headlines.

I would avoid the IFX14 and get a Ultra-120 Extreme.

Oh? Why's that?
The reviews I've read so far have put the IFX-14 on par with the ultra-120 with a single 120mm fan .. and the IFX14 can take 2x140mm fans.

At any rate, I've already had an IFX14 delivered to my work .. back in .au
and I have 2x140mm 1000rpm fans to play with :|

Worse comes to worse, I've got the stock cooler

Hopefully all is good with the ifx14
Thermalright haven't let me down yet

Thermalright haven't let me down yet

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=152773

based on this and a few other forum reviews, it performed only as good or worse than the ultra-120 Extreme. Also, it is one of the heaviest HSFs out there and while Thermalright makes great heatsinks, the mounting hardware isn't the best.

Thanks !!

RE ThermalRight Extreme 120.
Looked at it, heard lots of reports about it not fitting tightly and requiring to be lapped.
Went for the Tuniq Tower 120 instead. It comes pre-lapped and works like a charm on my Q6600 B3. If it can cool that beast when overclocked, it can't be bad.
(Q6600 @3200Mhz CPU temp 46c, core temps range from 54c to 56c running FAH) room temp is 21.5c

Yeah the 120 extreme has a very poor mounting system. But it is easily fixed buy putting a penny under the x bracket and that tightens it up. I think most high end coolers will work well and there is not that much difference in the high end coolers IMO. But for sure the stock coolers and lower end coolers are not enough for continuos folding with an OC'd quad.

I've seen these sorts of reviews all over the web & I can't help but shake my head when they make the conclusion that the 120mm ultra heatsink is better (with all the faults) when they are neglecting much of the surface area of the bigger cooler by strapping 120mm fans to it.

Using all the power of my brain, I work out that ... 140^2 / 120^2 = 136%

What sort of fool reviews a heatsink designed for 140mm fans & uses 120mm fans? And then concludes that the 120mm predecessor beats it? When they are neglecting 36% of the potential cooling. By my quicky calcs, that's a crapload more of potential heat dissipation over the 120mm version
