Let's say average 15 mins per frame = 15x100/60 = 25 hours for both projects! Down from 32 hours.

But be careful, I think the CPU usage is now REAL 100%, temperature increased from 58C to 68C, sometimes hits 71C!
either affinity changer is working really well, or somebody added a new cpu or two

Yeah.

I made a cheap HTPC with Gigabyte DS3L mobo and Radeon 2400Pro HD video card which I planned quite a while ago. While it's not being use, might as well donate some WU, right?

nice! I'd like to build a HTPC now that I have a HDTV (actually I kinda wanted one when I was still on SD too ) but just don't have the funds ATM

I'm thinking about building a mini-farm because I found a couple of P3s/boards for dirt cheap, then once I get my FX sold and my new rig built I can throw in my old 3700 @ 2.64ghz too not sure the ppd will be worth it though...now if only I could sneak them in somewhere where I wouldn't have to pay for the power

Well, I just set up the GPU client and it isn't all rainbows and unicorns. If you so much as look at the system funny, the client halts. CTL-ALT-DEL? Client halts. WINDOWS-L? Client halts. 3D Screensaver kicks on? Client halts. Have you screen lock on resume from screensaver? Client halts. Sheesh. They aren't kidding on the FAH site when they says the GPU client requires care and feeding (more or less).

Still, the card was only about $100 on ebay . . . . and I do FINALLY have it running.

The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them-words shrink things that seemed limitless when in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while saying it. I did find a program that might help you and debro (and anyone else running 2x smp on an intel quad) get ~1000 extra ppd it basically automatically sets the affinity on each client to only run on one die to avoid FSB thrashing and slowdowns

heres the thread over at the folding forums

http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?p=1566

hmm, I read a few more posts in the thread and it seems to work with dual cores too I'll have to give it a try if I ever get my fx up and running again
I'd love to give this a try, but I have issues I follow the link above to the relevant thread fine, and the link to the affinity changer homepage works. When I click on the download, it asks me for a login in ukranian? ?? is this a recent change, or is it just me?

I have a dual core machine at work that I'd like to try this on. The SMP client didn't really work the first time I tried it on it, but I thought this would be a neat experiment.

Hm. Finally got it, so never mind. Didn't seem to help my pentium D at work

Well then, looks like you have upped the ante a little 2X Quad maybe. Just how far are we going to take this little office rivalry - I think I need to convince my buddy Don to get a new PC

Just so you all know - SnM77 and I work at the same place! See ya tomorrow Steve, I got dug out this afternoon!

No, no dual quad core. I just called in some favors, so to speak. Only temporary, sadly. But while it lasts . . . . man, that's a bunch of points! and, uh, there might be two more wu finished next time period, if my math is right . . . which it may not be.

Only temporary, I assure you. hessjm was able to outspend me on hardware, so I had to ask for a couple of favors to keep up

Re: Folding@Home Milestones, Statistics and Member Achievements

Just for giggles, I headed over to extreme overclockers statistics page, and went to the "all teams" view. I sorted the view by points /week, and discovered that for the last week at least, CD Freaks is producing points 129th fastest - for the WHOLE PROJECT! Personally, I think that's pretty neat when you consider that that database contains information on 3000 F@H teams

Someone here at work just pointed out to me that we have a whole lab full of dual core machines sitting doing next to nothing. Oh, so tempting . . .but too much of a pain to manage. Man, they'd rack up the team points, tho . . .

How did you manage your current 15-29 PCs? Not much work, right? So go get 'em!

Lol, just do what I do, install two standard clients with no internet confirmation.

The standard client doesn't expire & just keeps cranking.
Standard client points aren't as good as SMP cleints, but hell, management free points, right?

Good point. Hmm. I'll have to think about that. Maybe hessjm and I could split the points . . . . >

SnM77, if we knew the class schedule we could just shut our processes down for the day. The most recent login I coud find was January when I looked 2 weeks ago. Bet that training room would turn into an oven!
