Ok, I got the first big WU in and got us credit for it. Woohoo! I'm on frame 41,500 of 50,000 on this machine, so that one should hit in the morning. GO TEAM CD FREAKS!

Re: Folding@Home

well done Joe
out of curiosity, how far along is the K/6?

if the team keeps growing like it has been lately, we may beat debro's predictions

my production should go up a tad starting next week, my FX-60 is scheduled for delivery monday (that is if UPS doesn't muck it up )
I think I'm going to try out some linux SMP folding, its suposed to give crazy PPD

just to make it a little more interesting, I think we should set a points goal for next month, I was thinking 100k would be a good place to start, and it is very doable, even though its a short month (ave. PPD would need to be at least 3572, and while the ave. for the past 7 days was just a hair under 3k, on 1/22 we did 4.5k, so it can be done )

Re: Folding@Home

The K-6/2 is at 1600/20,000 frames completed. Just 8%. All three of the machines I have here are running F@H 24/7, so I'm doing everything I can already. The ONLY thing I could do more would be to add the laptop (PIII 700) but I'm not going to run that machine 24/7, so I really don't see the point. I only use that machine to serve up some of the audio when I do gigs. That's it.

So, yeah, where IS Dee? :P

Nay .. The Sigot complains that the room smells funny, when the PC's are left on
And I'd rather have a Lower FAH score and girlfriend with low nag factor, than the opposite of both.

A high FAH output & GF with low nag factor is an impossibility

Well, you might catch up when you're done with that FX-60.

I don't know about that, but we'll see how the SMP client does on it
I'm also going to try and score a cheapo vid card tomorrow so I'll have everything ready when the barebones kit gets here, then I can just dump my 3700, ram and an old hdd into it and squeez a few more WUs out of it before it gets sold so I guess there is a very slight chance I will pass you for a few days

Re: Folding@Home

I'm now running 2 instances on my AMD 4400+.
Unfortunatly I have an nVidia ccard so I can't run the GPU instance of it.

I completed a WU today but have been having problems sending it back to the server and getting a new one. Seems to have connected now and got a new one but still got my results in the queue to send.

Re: Folding@Home

yeah, stanford has been having trouble with their servers latetly, Its taken several attempts to send/receive WUs for the past few weeks

kinda had a false start on teh fx-60 too, its having heat issues so I kicked it down to just one console until I can get my new hsf installed (that means no SMP action until then either ) hopefully I'll have time this weekend, but its gonna be a pain in teh arse as I have to pull the mobo to install the bracket

Re: Folding@Home

I just found a compaq computer in the garbage with a AMD Barton 3200+ CPU. Once the stick of 512mb memory I got off of ebay arrives I will be crunching on it. If it works that is, which I think it will, gave me "bad memory" beep codes when I started it up with no ram. Other than that, seemed fine.

Btw, is there a way to display stats for fah in one's sig? I have my BOINC stats but not fah.

Re: Folding@Home

nice find! the stuff ppl throw away these days

for FAH stats you can use the one I made at www.dcsig.com

you just have to start an account (free) it'll ask you the team # and your user name, then just find the image (its on pg 5), cache it, then it will give you the URL to link to. I think it updates every 3hrs or something like that

the only real problem is the forum here doesn't allow sig imgs, so it'll just be a link

Admitting that you've illegally downloaded movies/songs and need help to process/burn is comparable to robbing a bank, and walking into the bank the next day holding the bags of money to deposit them into your account.

Seems stopping the service, resetting the internet connection, starting the service seems to do it.

Just in case anyone else is having problems sending or recieving.

Re: Folding@Home

yo, zevia, watch out

I have nearly 3000 pts crunching between the fx-60(smp) and the 3700(standard client), not counting the 400pts on the P4 cuz it hasn't been running much lately.

current SMP WU: #2605, 1760pts, 30% done, ~24hrs left to finish
current standard WU: #1487, 1161pts, 82% done, ~1-2 days left to finish
current P4 WU: #2124, ~400pts, ~50% done, it'll take forever to finish running ~1hr every day or two

I highly recommend the SMP client to anyone running a dual (or quad) core the only problem is you kinda have to leave it running 24/7 because teh deadlines are short

I'm running native linux right now because it's slightly faster, but I'm thinking about setting up vmware for convenience, and with vmware you can set up a standard console or two (or a gpu console) to use up the extra cpu cycles that vmware won't use
