| Re: Folding@Home Well I tried it on a computer that had FAH installed on it already, and it worked great. The first computer I tried was one of my World Community Grid rigs and asked me for my name and team # etc. So I guess the computer needs to have FAH installed already and the work folder, the queue file replaced and whatever core the WU needs to be processed.

![]() I've been thinking about getting a little 1650pro/xt for my P4 just to fool around with the gpu client, and from what I've read it would get 2-3x more ppd than I get with the cpu client to boot

![]() the biggest thing thats been holding me back from getting a card for the p4 is its agp so all the cards are more expensive (right now its actually cheaper to get a new one from newegg than a used one from ebay, lol), and I'm not sure the psu could handle even a 1650pro

| Re: Folding@Home lol, yeah, and to add insult to injury its a mid-tower with a standard atx board, but a micro-atx psu and no way to mound a standard psu without some fab work oh, it has proprietary mobo connectors too...thanks gateway ![]() ![]() I'm about 98% sure it could run a 1650pro if I pulled out the extra dvd burner, but it'd be pushing it, so I don't really want to chance it unless I can score a 1650 for next to nothing

I got my GPU off ebay with the same 3p cooler int he auctioned mentioned earlier in this thread. I'm not overclocking, I'm trying to keep the power usage sane. I HAD an 8600 GT in my system, the x1900xt works just as well. It is a little louder, even with the 3rd party cooler Bioshock looks great though ![]()

as tempting as it was I didn't bid on the 1900xt, I'm just going to hold off for an 8800gt, and apparently there are some rumors flying around that stanford has been working on a gpu client for the 8-series ![]()

I'm thinking at this point that I'm going to save up the 500 bucks or so to fit a spare chassis around here with a q6600 and a motherboard to hold it, move the PSU and GPU that are in my current folding rig into my media PC and use my 8600GT in the q6600 machine. Gotta make so dosh first - money first, toys second I could fold on the quad core pretty well, from what I read . . .

| Re: Folding@Home I finally get it going again. ![]() On my Q6600 OC to 3Ghz, project 3060 is around 16:11 mins per (2260 ppd). If I double it with another SMP Client + FAHAffinityChanger, it's 45% slower, ie 23+ mins per. Still the same with *dual* project 2653 which is 13+ mins per compared to *single* project 9+ mins per.
