Well i had enough fun with this client so i'll be giving all my cpu time to WCG Team. Sorry guys. I give up. I have to be able to shut down when needed and not have to mess with this screwy client. Boinc ( i like calling it Bionic ) runs so much better and you can adjust cpu usage to what you want to.

you could also run a couple of standard clients along side boinc that works out pretty good for me when I'm not SMPing the only real downside is ram usage can get kinda high when there are 3 or 4 big WUs, I've seen as high as 1gb on my rig

IIRC I mentioned the standard client to rolling (you mean the regular Windows GUI one, right?), and he said there's a problem with it and his graphics card.

Unless you mean the console client, that might work

Re: Folding@Home

yep, I meant the console with default settings on FAH and Boinc each WU will get 25% CPU time (half a core each) although windows will occasionally muck up on affinity and one WU will get 50% and the other 3 will get ~17% but as soon as one finishes it will re-balance to 25% each

with that setup I never even got close to missing a deadline with my fx60 running 8-10hrs a day

I say again that's really weird. We're all using different clients and no-one's had that much bad luck

Re: Folding@Home

I even tried running at default stock speeds and it still does the same thing. So it's not an overclocking issue. The 5.04 client? won't run on this machine as the vid card is not compatible.

the 5.04 "no nonsence" text console will run on anything with xp/vista, I've never lost work with it either...its the 5.91 GPU client that you need a video card for

ok it's been awhile so your probably right. 5.04 will not give the big points though?
