I'd suggest trying the linux client in vmware, back when I was SMPing I was running native linux and the client was rock solid, never had a problem with it (except of course when stanford's work servers were down). I've never tried vmware myself, but zevia has, I'll try and find a guide on how to set it up

the only downside is the free version of vmware only supports 2 cores, so crossg would have to either run two vmwares (which would get more ppd than 1 smp client, but would suck up a fair bit of ram too) or he could run 1 vmware and 2 standard clients (probably get about the same ppd as win smp)

Re: Folding@Home

@Rolling Me either. As for your other question I have no idea how or if I uninstalled the client. I think I just reinstalled from the install bat.

@jwill thanks for the info. I will be doing a fresh install of XP and Vista this weekend so I may just do as you suggested.

Say's it takes lots of ram. How much? I can put 4 gigs in. I can handle the hdd specs.

I know back when smp first came out people were setting vmware to 512mb, but the newer WUs use more ram, so 768-1gb is probably optimal, but I don't know for sure

Glad you got it sorted. I am going to shut down for a bit and swap Mobo's to see if I can't get a little more oomph out of this Quad.
