Well even if you did, it'd be fine unless you were sending/receiving work at that moment

Re: Folding@Home

Holy cow, are we bringing out big guns here or what? I am trying to figure out how to best use a new addition. It is a Dell workstation 670, single processor (Xeon Nocona), looks like two CPU, supports 64bit. What do I run for F@H? Two instances of console running under Linux is running ok, but would running SMP on this be better?

Work did an upgrade and some of us in IT were able to pick up some old systems, now if I could figure out how to hook up the 3 gx400, 2 gx240, 4 gx260 and 4 gx280 PCs on the shelf in the garage I might be able to stay competitive!

Re: Folding@Home

I've found that in order of maximum PPD:
SMP - Linux.
Standard client - Windows (x2 for Dual cores)
SMP - Windows (tested on VistaBP-64 .. XP may be different).
Standard Client - Linux. (x2 for Dual cores).

You are currently running the lowest PPD configuration (by my experience).
Of course, YMMV.

Well I have been folding fairly consistantly for almost 7 days and the average is 2489 points per day but they are all different WU's. Had to back off the OC because it was getting warm. Going to shut it down for a while so I can lap the CPU and heatsink and see if I can't get the temps down a bit and of course do some before and after testing.

How do you keep all the little metal particles from getting in the wrong places? I've seen people lap their heat sinks on tv but i have never
