Well with 7 mins per frame for project 2610, crossg should be able to get at least 3,000 points per day.

One of their servers might be down, it happens.

I run the Linux client on Vista 64 via VMWare and ubuntu 64. IMO ubuntu is ideal as its lightweight compared to openSuSe and i only use that setup for folding. (i need to be in Windows most of the time). When booting to Linux i use ubuntu Studio.

What i'm not sure about, although i'm sure someone here will be able to confirm. I'm not sure if you can run a 64bit Linux with VMWare installed on a 32bit Windows XP.

BTW: openSuSe + state of the art graphics card = nightmare.

Re: Folding@Home

Standard Linux client (not SMP) is very slow compared to the Windows clients, or perhaps it just gets larger WU's .... for the same points.
Either way, 32b client is better in windows.

**** ENSURE THAT WINDOWS CLIENTS ARE NOT USING IE SETTINGS ****
None of my standard windows clients have had issues connecting over the weekend.

Re: Folding@Home

Connection issues are usually server problems and not due to individual clients.

I have, however, had issues with the Windows graphical client shutting down after it reports finished tasks. But only on computers which I ask for permission before connecting to the internet.

Re: Folding@Home

@ debro. Is that in the FAq's because I admit I didn't look that closley. So You are saying I should change these two settings to "no"
Code:
- Ask before connecting: Yes
- Use IE connection settings: Yes
If so I would have to run the install bat again or can I edit the client cfg with notepad. Kinda worried about losing this though.
Code:

Completed 335000 out of 500000 steps (67 percent)
EDIT:Hehe Never mind. I opend the cfg with notepad and can't tell what setting is what. Well sort of.
Code:
 [settings]
username=crossg
team=13505
asknet=yes
bigpackets=yes
machineid=1
[http]
active=no
host=localhost
port=8080
usereg=yes
Edit 2: I changed two yes to no in the client cfg and it seems to be working

Re: Folding@Home

You can run "fahxxx.exe -configonly" & it will alter it for you without affecting the running client, however you will need to restart the running client before the settings will be used anyway.

Terminating the client shouldn't lose an entire work unit, just the part of the WU that it's working on now ... 10-20 minutes of work for most people
No guarantee for SMP clients though

If it asks for user confirmation everytime it finishes a WU, then it's obviously wasting alot of Crunching time waiting for the user to hit yes. If you have always on broadband (and who still uses dialup, right?) then 5MB won't make difference in the great scheme of things, although it's potentially about 150-200MB every month, for those of you with download limits. 400/600 if you have a C2D on 24/7 and finish 1.5 WU's a day.
