Changing Machine ID with Windows SMP client?

Can anyone tell me how to do this, now I've got both machines folding?

It's probably really obvious, but I'm not really used to changing settings with the SMP client.

Thanks guys (and gals)

Re: Changing Machine ID with Windows SMP client?

call fah with command switch -config from a DOS prompt.
fah.exe -config
Then just choose an ID between 1 and 8 when the ID option comes up.

Re: Changing Machine ID with Windows SMP client?

congrats on getting the second machine folding
but you should only need to change machine IDs if you are running multiple clients on the same box

Re: Changing Machine ID with Windows SMP client?

Thanks

Re: the ID - Good job too 'cos for some reason when I restarted FAH on my C2D it was back to ID 1, same as the other PC.

Well, as long as me WUs get submitted OK, I'm happy

Re: Changing Machine ID with Windows SMP client?

Machine ID is when you are running multiple clients on one machine, like the 2 standard ones, so each client knows which core it should run on. It has no bearing when you have multiple rigs running.

The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them-words shrink things that seemed limitless when in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while saying it. Re: Changing Machine ID with Windows SMP client?

Yeah, that's the impression I got when I read Jwill's post

Having never run F@H with multiple machines under the same nick, I was a bit worried about a possible conflict.

Now I know that's not the case, I can happily keep going as I am

I've got 13 machines running FAH - only 8 possible ID's
They're all running on ID:1 , except my Athyx2 which runs two x fah clients.

With those 13 machines, if you run SMP you're going to be unstoppable. Dee took your 2nd place now.

Re: Changing Machine ID with Windows SMP client?

Most of the PC's are only single core. A few are P4-HT which I can run SMP, but no real point
2 office machines are running Dual Cores, but I've been too busy to install the SMP client on them as services.
