We were ranked 300th as of yesterday, but this morning we are currently #301. Maybe it's just not meant to be.

Awesome!

Just so you know, the stats sometimes take a couple of days to update as others have to finish their WUs.

Re: CD Freaks World Community Grid Team

For anybody interested, I signed us up for the "ALL CRUNCHERS VERSUS CANCER" competition: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/te...hallengeId=962

I have set my rigs to only crunch cancer work units for this challenge but any projects are allowed. Stats will be updated each night and the challenge starts tomorrow and runs until May 31st. Let's kick some cancer butt!

Re: CD Freaks World Community Grid Team

I'd really like to join in on this challenge, but I'm having trouble with BOINC again
this time its on my laptop so I know it has plenty of ram and its not slowing other processes down, but I still get a goofy cpu usage chart even though all the setting are set to use 100% of available resources

is this normal with the newer versions/WUs? the estimated time to finish is only 8hrs so it will still make deadlines with no problem... I guess I could just throw a folding client in the background with a slightly lower priority and forget about it, but it would be better IMO just to get WCG to run 100%
any ideas?

Re: CD Freaks World Community Grid Team

hmm, sorry to hear you are having troubles with BOINC again. First, try installing the latest version of BOINC if you haven't already: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php

It looks to me like the CPU usage is going up and down very consistently. To me that would suggest that the CPU usage is turned down in BOINC. You can get to the CPU usage tab by going to the preferences under the tools menu. I have attached a picture of my prefs so you can see where it is located.

Let me know if you have any luck,

adict

Re: CD Freaks World Community Grid Team

I double checked it and it was only at 60% even though I set it to 100% when I installed it... figured out why though, somehow my online profile got set to 60% so it was reverting the client every time it would connect to the server

thanks for the help

EDIT: woohoo, got the laptop and the P4 both running at 100%
time to kick some cancer a$$

Re: CD Freaks World Community Grid Team

We are currently ranked 9th in the challenge. Most the teams above us have many many more members however.

ddtung, one of the highest ranked crunchers on the project, just posted pictures of his crunching farms over at xtremesystems. Pretty unbelievable how much time, energy and electricity someone has put towards this project.

Pics: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=399
...amazing...

Re: CD Freaks World Community Grid Team

wow, that guy must work at a pretty cool company to allow him to have racks of bare computer components sitting out in the middle of an office (or maybe he's the owner and can write off all the components and electricity as "business expenses")

Awesome news friend! Thanks for the update, can't wait to see what figures your new rig generates. Do you know what the specs will be yet?

well, it looks something like this (as supplied by the supplying IT company):
Code:
HP Compaq dc7800 Convertible Minitower PC (GW027EA)

Genuine Windows Vista Business 32-bit

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor

4 GB PC2-5300 (DDR2-667) 4x1 GB

256 MB Video Graphics Card Nvidia x1550

250 GB SATA 7200 RPM

HP PS/2 Standard Keyboard

HP PS/ 2- Button Optical Scroll Mouse

SATA HP DVD+/-RW SuperMulti 16x Light Scribe

1.44 MB Diskette Drive

HP (3-3-3) dc7800 SFF Warranty ARAB

Embedded Security for HP Protect Tools

Verdiem Surveyor

Intel LMS SOL for Bearlake

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100

Integrated High Definition Audio

Generic Tools
HP 19” LCD Monitor PX850AP
Only God knows what the hell is an nVidia X1550!!!! i believe it is to be mistaken with a Radeon of the same model!!! and Vista for a graphic designer is just NOT RIGHT!!! and what's that "Surveyor" and "LMS SOL for Bearlake"!!! from what i've read it's nothing but a spying/remote control application!! like for once people!!! i wish you give hardware info with the same precision as you gave the useless software ones!!!

the IT companies in here are just a waste of life!! they have nothing as a "Custom built" choice, and in most of the cases they don't know what lies in their own rigs!!!

the PC have already been delayed for a week! i wish the company allowed me to go get it piece by piece... it would've been alive and kicking 6 days ago

:edit: ok, just found some details on some website, please check here for information :/edit:
