Tunebite Digital Dubbing and Sound Hardware

It's no secret that when using Tunebite with 4x digital dubbing, tracks can get screwed up. What I'm curious to know is if I get a recommended/higher end sound card with good drivers, etc., will it help to solve that problem?

Im running at 3x digital dubbing with no issues, but I can't run at 4x. I'm using the on-board sound from my motherboard which is a MSI k2 delta platinum motherboard with the nvidia nforce2 chipset... I think that's what it is. Honestly since I have installed it in my system, it has run so well I haven't even looked at my instruction manual or bothered to remember the name of it. In case it makes a difference, my processor is the AMD athlon xp 2500+ socket A processor and I've got 1.5gb of DDR 333mhz (PC-2700) SDRAM.

I'm planning on building a new system soon, with either a core 2 duo or core 2 quad.. or maybe the AMD barcelona opteron replacement processor if its comes out in time, and I'm considering an M-audio sound card. Will the improved processor (like a quad core) and the higher-end sound card solve the jitter problem with 4x digital dubbing?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Tunebite Digital Dubbing and Sound Hardware

If you use Tunebite digital dubbing, then the sound-card that you have, is no longer important, because the accelerated conversion is made through Tunebite's digital driver. What is important in getting the files converted at 4x without problems, is the cpu and RAM memory.

With the current configuration that you have, you might get 4x smoothly by trying the following:
-close all applications that you have running, and let Tunebite alone to convert
-open the Task manager and select for the process Tunebite, high priority level.

As for the configuration you are planning to build, Tunebite will run at 4x without any problems, with such cpu's. Then again, there is no need to buy such a high end sound-card as M-audio ones, only for Tunebite.

If you still encounter problems with it, don't hesitate to come here again and ask. Also, you can provide me with more detailed information, such as from what format to what format are you making the conversion, what bitrate, etc
