I have the Canon Pixma IP3000

The CD tray is difficult (maybe impossible) to get in the US in stores. eBay has this item:

Any experiences with using such a CD/DVD adapter with the Pixma. Will it support printing on 'white inkjet printable' as well as the glossy surfaces. And what about the price? Does it look OK?

I have the original and it looks exactly like the one in the pictures. It comes with an adapter for mini-CD/DVD's which doesn't seem to be included (but you probably won't need anyway). Isn't installing the UK driver enough to enable it (use Search, there's some threads about this here). Canon has a CD-LabelPrint program available for download to design & print the labels. I use it with Verbatim "Photo Printable" discs and the result is very nice. Spraying with acrylic sealer/plasticizer brings out the colors even more and makes it more durable (takes some practice to do this right). Haven't felt the need to use (expensive) "Glossy Printables" yet. $21 isn't cheap, but you'll like it I'm sure.

I got this tray. When I got it is was $13.99 plus $4.50 or so shipping. I noticed now they are 18.99. But they do work great. I don't know if it is true, but the site claims that the oem canon trays are glossy and they don't work that well without the rollers(unless you bought your canon outside US then they don't have rollers, if they came with rollers they would probably come with the cd tray too). My tray feeds and I don't have to even push it to get it started. Just put it in the tray, put the tray in the printer and push it in. Hit print and let it go to work for 45 seconds and voila, I have a printed cd. Then I spray it with the acrylic. Like mentioned earlier this does take some practice to get an even coat that doesn't look globby.

ps. Dan, the guy I dealt with at PE Labs was a joy to work with. I think PE Labs is fairly new at selling these trays and I couldn't find much reference about them so I just took a chance and he shipped my stuff out immediately and was very prompt answering any of my questions. So do not be afraid to order from PE Labs.

Great!! Thanks for the inputs. So I assume you guys use the regular 'white inkjet printable' media...the one that looks and feels grainy? I guess thats the only other option than the expensive glossy ones.

There is also a silver top printable that TY makes, I think the white ones are more accurate and produce better results. However, alot of people like the look the the silver topped ones. It is kind of hard to describe without seeing them, however, try to imagine what a printout would look with a silver backround instead of white. The white ones are more like what a printout would look like on a white sheet of paper.

Several mfrs. make silver-inkjet-printable media; not just TY. And even the standard (non-glossy) look glossy after being sprayed with Patricia Nimock's Glossy. I've done plenty.
