Lightscribe - Burn marks on 2nd print

Hello,

I recently bought a Liteon lightscribe burner model LH-20A1L06C and some Memorex LS 1.2 media.

I can print labels perfectly the 1st time but if i try a 2nd print to make it darker i get a bunch of circular lines or burn marks all over the label. So far i have only tried twice using the attached image, first one was at best quality and default contrast setting on the LSS and the second at best with the enhanced contrast setting both with the same result (default contrast produced a lot more burn marks though).

I've seen another post with this problem without any definitive conclusion.

My question is: is this a media problem or a hardware issue?

I'm using the Nero 7 that came with the drive and the LSS 1.10.27.1 on Windows XP.

Thanks for any help on this.

Re: Lightscribe - Burn marks on 2nd print

I have several different LS burners that all do the same thing with dark labels like this. If I'm just burning some text or simple graphics, it's not much of an issue. Probably relates to the drive not locating the label in the exact same place on the 2nd burn.

I'm also having issues with the circular banding with my LH-20A1H. Doesn't matter if I burn once, once on enchanced mode, or twice. I can always see the faint lines. I'm almost convinced that all lightscribe drives have this. Its just some people have better eyes to see the lines. I'm still considering on exchanging my drive, but for some reason I know it will be the same.

BTW is the image above of a scan of the CD/DVD or is it just the image you want to burn? Because I can't see any circular lines on it.
