CD & DVD Printing and Labeling Discuss, Does Lightscribe work on printable media? at International Chat: Hardware related forum; I am getting a LG Lightscribe external DVD burner and I have some printable blank media. What I want to know is would it be possible to burn Lightscribe text and graphics on a blank printable disc. Or will this media have to be Lightscribe only?

No LS only works on LS compatible discs.

Re: Does Lightscribe work on printable media?

this cannot work because only LS media has this extra "layer" (better called as particles) on top of the media.

Re: Does Lightscribe work on printable media?

Hey..
LightScribe is a technology that uses a special disc drive(LS burner), special media(LS blank media), and label-making software to burn labels directly onto CDs and DVDs.
It can't work unless use LS media,Because the labels are laser-etched--not printed--there's no ink, no smudging, and no peeling.
