cd/dvd printing....

greetings ppl.....
this may be more suited for the CD & DVD Printing and Labeling forum....If so mods. please move.....I printed here because once again I let my noobie status show,,,,LOL
My question is does HP cd/dvd printable units pale in comparison to Epson and/or Canon??It's just I here very little about 'em.....Actually being in the US i believe HP and Epson are my 2 choices without alterations....Correct??
I presently have (and used)Lightscribe on DVD's & must say I'm pretty disappointed w/ the quality....
Any advice much appreciated....

Re: cd/dvd printing....

There's several threads here already on each of the printers, suggest reading those, then post back with any questions. IMHO, the bottom line for software and drivers is 1-Canon, 2-Epson, 3-HP. For the actual print function and output, they are more similar than not, although the ability to properly adjust the driver and print software will affect that.

Re: cd/dvd printing....

Well,I've done my homework(or so I thought)& decided to go w/ the HP D5160...After hearing the woeful lack of software with it I decided to add Acoustica Label Maker to my purchase...I was on the CompUSA page reading reviews & one of them stated that the HP isn't compatible with other software...Are these ppl misinformed or do I need to go back to the drawing board???...Once again thanx much in advance!!

The Egg would be my choice, have had bad experiences buying hardware from Amazon. Unless you can find a rebate or sale somewhere, the $80 price will be about the best you find.

Re: cd/dvd printing....

I have used Acoustica in the past, & it has worked great for me - no conflicts, very easy to use, way better than Nero, IMHO.

Just my .02

:-)
