Canon ip4300 - possible to print with Acrobat?

Hi
I have the Canon ip4300 and I'm not happy with the quality of the printing onto DVD and CD using Canon Print label software or Discuss. These programs won't take pdf files and just degrade the quality so much.

When I tried to use Adobe Acrobat Professional the results were fantastic, giving VERY crisp images, but I could not line it up properly for the CD-R TRay F. There seems to be no provision to do this?

Is there a program that will take PDFs, or is this not the problem?

If I could successfully use Adobe Acrobat to print the CDs through the Ccanon printer that would be great. Or is there some other software that would do this?

Thanks in advance.

A better question might be why are you using PDF for images? BTW, a PDF can be saved as a JPG with no loss of quality.

Yes I know, but something happens to that JPEG in the canon and Discuss software.

I mentioned the PDF because the same image using the PDF in Acrobat came out VERY crisp as compared to Canon label print and Discuss.

I just want an excellent image printed and now that I've seen it come out of acrobat I want to print this way - but can't align the CD-R Tray F to do it.

Has anyone used this??

Re: Canon ip4300 - possible to print with Acrobat?

It's a matter of printer settings as far as how it looks. If your default printer settings are inadequate, you have to use the printer setup in LablePrint. The program won't set up the printer for you. I use JPG and BMP in the Canon software and have no problems.

So I think you're on a goose chase here, and should learn to use the Canon software. But there are templates around for Photoshop if you want to use that for disc printing, you can. But the quality of the print is a matter of the printer driver settings, not the software used.

Re: Canon ip4300 - possible to print with Acrobat?

Thanks again for your reply, I really appreciate it.

If you could (or someone who uses the Canon IP4300) let me know what are the best settings and how to set them that would be great.

I'm only asking because we had a professional print press/graphic person here who couldn't make the JPEG image look good with either the canon software or Discuss.

I also rang Canon and went through it with them over the phone and the results didn't look as crisp as the Acrobat print. But I'm keen to know hat you use and test it out.

Cheers.

The "look" is determined by the printer DRIVER, not the software you are printing from. It's the same driver settings in any program you print from. If you are getting different results, it's either the driver settings, or the image itself is different. The software you print from has nothing to do with it. It's also possible that Adobe is altering your monitor profile in a way that makes the image look different than it does otherwise, or it's altering the image itself. In any case, there's nothing wrong with the Canon software in that regard. If you start with a good image, and set up the print profile correctly, the results will be excellent.

Suggest you start by reading up on monitor calibration and print profiles.

Re: Canon ip4300 - possible to print with Acrobat?

Thanks again for replying.

But I would still like to know what the best printer driver settings are for the Canon ip4300? I've tried my BEST with the same image (to properly compare the results) to sort it out, and have rung Canon and it still isn't what I think it should be.

If anyone can help with what setting you use for JPEG images for example, that would be great.

Thanks in advance.
