Plextor introduces 1GB USB Flash Memory Drive

Quote:
PLEXTOR INNOVATES WITH THE LATEST GENERATION OF USB FLASH MEMORY DRIVES

Brussels, September 2004. Plextor, the leading manufacturer of high quality recording equipment, gives new momentum to the PlexFlash memory stick range. Not just trappings - innovative changes again take the range to the highest level. And that as regards storage capacity (to 1 GB), transfer speed and functionality. The PlexFlash is trendy, weighs barely 30 grams, and is so slim that it can easily and immediately be connected to any USB port. And that’s not all, because the gadget is so mobile, the complete PlexFlash range has had its own piece of software written for it. No gadgets, but necessary components to protect your critical data and help you navigate the way through your sea of data. But that's not nearly the only way that Plextor makes the difference. With reading and writing speeds of 23MB and 13 MB per second for the PlexFlash PX-F512-2 and PX-F1GB-2 respectively, Plextor raises technology to a new level.

As small as a finger, as light as a feather, and as fast as you like.

Ultracompact, with a weight of barely 30 g, the PlexFlash fits easily inside your trouser pocket. And you can still put a whole library of data on it! The PlexFlash is compatible with the USB 2.0 standard, and for the 512 MB and 1 GB models easily reaches transfer speeds of 13MB/s. Reading is even faster, at no less than 23MB/s. If you work with PowerPoint presentations, video or photo material or MP3-files you will realise how handy the PlexFlash can be. Plug in, load the data, and that's that. Although the PlexFlash is light and slender it requires no special care. It is hard-wearing, shock-resistant and … autonomous! . No more fiddling around with the computer you have to put your data on. With KeySafe and MyKey each PlexFlash now has the necessary software on board to secure and manage your data.

Easy to use

USB stands for 'plug and play'. All you have to do is start up your computer and click the PlexFlash into a USB port. You can then simply read, write, copy, remove or delete data, or move it from your PC to the PlexFlash and vice versa. No separate drivers are needed for Windows Me, 2000 and XP, Mac 9.X and 10.X and Linux 2.6X, as the PlexFlash is immediately recognised as an external drive.

The PlexFlash will be available from mid-October from Plextor’s sales channels for a recommended retail price of 23 EUR* for the PX-F128-2, 52 EUR* for the PX-F256-2, 105 EUR* for the PX-F512-2 and 125 EUR* for the PX-F1GB-2.
