Memory card not reporting correct size

First of all i want to say that these drives are 100% real and legitimate and NOT off eBay lol

i have issues with 2 memory cards:

1) Kingmax 1GB USB memory stick reporting only capacity of 682MB

2) Corsair 2GB MiniSD reporting only 1GB. Used to report 2GB and i have put well over 1GB worth of things on it at the same time, so its definitely larger than 1GB. I had this card in my Nokia N73, then the phone said the card was corrupted and since formatting, is now half the size

for the above, i have used these cards on multiple pcs and memory card readers to make sure.

My main concern is the Corsair 2GB mem card which contains quite a lot of files i would like to restore, mainly pictures. I have tried running several image recovery and data recovery programs on this bu all have turned up nothing.

The thing is that these programs will only look in the current 1GB reported size and not the other 1GB where data is possibly held.

Any idea on how to fix either of these problems??

thanks

It is possible that your old "100% reliable" reader cannot format SD or miniSD memory cards larger than 512MB. Many devices more than two or three years old have the 512MB limitation for memory cards.
