Re: CD Freaks presents: The Traxdata EZ Drive Pro 1GB Review

Wow, a flash review!

Ritek doesn't make NAND chips but many of Ritek's USB and other types of flash products offer good performances at reasonable cost at least looking at newegg.com.

8MB/s read and 6MB/s write seem a bit outdated for flash products. Ritek does already have flash products of USB 2.0 and CF/SD interfaces with 20+MB/s read speeds.

There are now 200x 32MB/s USB memory cards as well.

Re: CD Freaks presents: The Traxdata EZ Drive Pro 1GB Review

Thanks H3rB3i for a nice review.

A interesting thing though, this USB memory stick only comes with 5 years warranty, (reading from the package pic).
But, in specs it says; "Up to 10 years data retention"...

This is not a "exclusive" future for Traxdata flash stick.
You'll find the same "future" on all memory sticks out there, (although some need add. software providing this).
But all this ofcourse depending on if your compu is able to boot from USB.

off topic
I have to agree with Kenshin. There are quite many (better) much faster USB flash memory sticks out there.
Corsair's are mine favorite (have one 265MB and one 1GB). They carry 10y warranty and you can find them at newegg.

Re: CD Freaks presents: The Traxdata EZ Drive Pro 1GB Review

Actually, the Plextor flash memory stick introduced in 2004 was actually faster than the Traxdata stick reviewed here.

I'd love to have some 200x flash cards, but they aren't available here yet. Newegg.com is selling the Patriot 2GB 200x USB for US$42 including shipping.

Remember when most people just a few years ago said how slow flash is and it makes few differences whether it's USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 because flash can't get much faster than about 600KB/s? Now, even USB 2.0's 480Mbps (which is actually about 20MB/s to 60MB/s) seems too slow for the latest generations of flash chips.

Re: CD Freaks presents: The Traxdata EZ Drive Pro 1GB Review

Thanks guys for your input I really appreciate it. I know that this and also the other tested drive (512MB Twister) are not the fastest drives around. I didn't mention this in the conclusion because these drives are on the market now for 1-2 years (I guess). Also, I wasn't aware that there where faster devics available 2 years ago. Thank Kenshin for bringing this up.

Hopefully we'll get some more up-to-date devices for future reviews
