I've been trying to make a backup of a DVD.When I put it in the DVD drive the opening bar that shows when it's reading the DVD only goes part way.When I tell the program to do the FULL DISC,MAIN MOVIE or SPLIT it only reads and copies to around 53% to my HD then hangs.I've waited for 30 mins and nothing .I've tried 4 or 5 times with no luck.The DVD is one of 11 in an old TV series from the 60's and 70's I have done 3 of the 11 without any trouble but this one won't go through.

Any ideas?

Hi Frank and welcome to CD Freaks
Are you able to rip any other movie to your HD ,if not it may be to not enough free space on your HD you need at least 10 Gigs of free space for DVDFab to do it's job

If after checking the free space on your hdd as SJ suggests, you still have a problem, here are a couple ideas.

In "Common settings" > "Read"
Enable "Ignore all reading errors automatically".
Untick "Enable read-ahead cache".

Yes I have 40 + Gigs and I've emptied the FABDVD temp file as well.I 've burned 3 of the 11 DVD's in the series.I've actually tried to burn this DVD on 2 of my computers and both did the same thing. It copies 2 + gigs to the FABDVD temp file and then hangs.

Maybe it's just this disc. I've backed up about 15 DVD's with FABDVD with very little trouble.The troubles I have had were cured through this fourm.

I'd say check your disk for scratches/fingerprint/smudges. Or yeah maybe just a bad disk....

Try doing like Tom(maineman) said should work

I got a failed process and it stopped.

Chances are it's a bad disc as you and t0nee1 suspect.
Do you actually get a failed message or does it just grind away and not advance?
Does any specific error code pop up?

Just to cover all the bases you can send the .IFO files to Fengtao. He's very good about checking these.
Here's how:

) Open an Explorer window, and navigate to VIDEO_TS folder of the DVD.
2) Copy all files ending with .IFO to hard disk.
3) ZIP the IFO files on hard disk to one file. Name it with a readable filename, like To Have and Have Not_R1.zip.
4) Send the zip file to fengtao(at)dvdidle.com, you need replace (at) with @.

I don't actually get an error number,a small window opens with the word " process".
Then the program stops and where it says what task it is doing an error failed message and I get asked to stop the task Y or N.

I'll try sending the .IFO file to Fengtao
