Re: Why does it only copy 1/2 the movie?

This sounds like a problem with your burner or maybe the blank media. You may be burning too fast. Please post a burn log. Directions for doing this are below.

Re: Why does it only copy 1/2 the movie?

Cut your burn speed to 4x-set dvd-rom as booktype in the write settings-see it that helps

Re: Why does it only copy 1/2 the movie?

Lousy media and burning too fast. Take a look here :
Don't shoot the messenger.
Try some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden and burn at 1/2 the max speed of your burner or 1/2 the max speed of your media, whichever is slower.

Re: Why does it only copy 1/2 the movie?

Several of the entries show burn errors around the halfway point:
Quote:

Try some Verbatim blanks and/or try burning the ones you have at 4X. Never heard of that media ID code, but they could be OK.

You're using platinum. It has more options than you're likely to use...ever...
Click on the little gear icon (on the upper right) > click Write > choose your burn speed

Only two places where I live stock Verbatims: BestBuy and OfficeMax. The everyday prices are high, so when they put them on sale, stock up.

Re: Why does it only copy 1/2 the movie?

Packet writing should work fine. It has to do with the the way the bits are formatted and sent to your burner. SAO stands for Session At Once. You can try it; with some burners and media it works better as reported by users here in the forum. Choose -R or +R based on what your standalone DVD player requires. If it doesn't care, by all means use +R.

That means half the rated speed of your disc, so if it says 8X on the packaging, you would burn at 4X. If it says 16X on the packaging, you would burn @8X, etc. When using Dvd+R media, make sure it's being booktyped to Dvd-Rom for more compatibility with standalones.
