As signals said, just because a particular media works in one burner doesn't mean it will in another and even the same make and model burner will perform differently given the specific firmware . Then you have the variability of players.

Maybe I missed it. Does this copy you created play ok in your burner?
Yep, plays perfect on my computer.

What is firmware and how do I find out what I have??

I really know nothing about my new computer.

I'm only literate with simple stuff like MS Office and the programs we run at work (hospital program stuff). LOL!!!

Don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm also running Windows Vista.

If you could post the media code, burner and firmware, it would help a great deal. Not as complicated as it sounds. Download and install nero cd/dvd speed (just click on the link here or in my sig). It's free, safe and extremely useful. Just click on the "Disc info" tab...like so:

Hi again,

Let's see if we have this right. Both bkups (yours and your friend's) were created from the some media?
Both play in your pc?
Only the bkup created with your pc fails to play in your standalone, but your friend's bkup will play in your player?

Sorry, I'm old and slow. I was typing very sloooowly when you were posting.
You can attach an image quite easily.
Click on FAQ...top of every page, right next to User CP.
If you need more help, just ask...

Ok, here you go...

What Are Attachments?
The administrator may allow you to use the attachment feature of this forum, which gives you the ability to attach files of certain types to your posts. This could be an image, a text document, a zip file etc. There will be a limit to the file size of any attachments you make, as the forums should not be used as an extension of your hard disk!

To attach a file to a new post, simply click the [Browse] button at the bottom of the post composition page, and locate the file that you want to attach from your local hard drive.

Only certain types of files may be attached: these are the valid file extensions for files to be attached to this forum: bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt xls zip.

After posting, the attachment will show up in the body of your message. To view the contents of the attachment (if it is not already displayed) simply click the filename link that appears next to the attachment icon .

You got it all right. Both were created from the same media and to the same blank media.

Re: VERY new to copying DVDs... and problem with DVD Fab.

I'm also having a HUGE problem with having it say 'no media inserted' over and over again until I use the 'format disk' (which I open by opening my computer, the right clicking the drive where the disk is inserted)
