Trying to increase the volume level for Zune ripping

Hey all...

I noticed that when I ripped Superbad to my hard drive to put onto my Zune (using the DVD to Mobile feature) at a 100% the audio was soft; it worked fine but I could barely hear it in a noisy room if I was using my Zune. So, when I went into the "Audio Format: wma9" settings and increased the volume level for it to rip at (I've tried 200%, 233%, etc...) so that it could be louder I noticed that it did initially work. I didn't change the Audio Bitrate settings, however. The problem came in, though, when I watched the movie on my Zune. The audio would play louder, temporarily, and then would go silent in patches. The audio stopped working for a minute or two and then would come back. This process occurred through the whole movie. This soft volume problem has happened now with every movie I've ripped. I can't seem to change anything on my Zune so I just figured I would solve this issue at the source.

So, how can make my rip of a movie louder without it causing the audio to drop out? I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks to anyone who can solve this problem for me...

Re: Trying to increase the volume level for Zune ripping

I wanted to create MP3 files from my U2 concert DVDs and I set the volume setting for 150% and that seemed to work very well.

I saved the files as AVI (with MP3 audio) and used YAMB (ver. 1.6, I think) to extract the MP3 files. You can split the AVI files by DVD chapters which is perfect for conversion to MP3 audio files. There's a guide somewhere on this board that walks you thru the process.
