Trouble Burning Running With Scissors

Hi,

First, I hate this movie (Running with Scissors) but my wife loves it. So I tried to make a copy today to preserve her original AWFUL DVD movie for her and it failed about 51% thru the analyze (copy). I'm using DVDFab Platinum 3.1.0.8 latest version, why is doing a full disk copy a problem on this movie? Anyone know, thanks for any help! Window's XP SP2+ installed!

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Trouble Burning Running With Scissors

Hi Steve and welcome to cdfreaks.
I guess I'm glad I don't have this movie...
Hopefully, someone who's done a bkup of this one will post.
Sorry I can't provide any detailed help.
Does any specific error pop up?...code?
You may want to send the .IFO files to Fengtao. He's really good about getting back to folks re: any new copy protection. The error code will help too.

Here's how to send the files:

1) Open an Explorer window, and navigate to VIDEO_TS folder of the DVD.
2) Copy all files ending with .IFO to hard disk.
3) ZIP the IFO files on hard disk to one file. Name it with a readable
filename, like Running with Scissors_R1.zip.
4) Send the zip file to fengtao@dvdidle.com.

[Edit]

Hey SJ, are you unlucky enough to own this one or did you just have to sit through it?...

Seriously, do you have the original?

I copied that movie awhile back with no problems whatsoever, I think it was version 3.0.9.8. I believe that was it.

Thanks Jimbo.

@Steve1209, you may want to try:
enable Ignore all reading errors automatically and
unclick Enable read-ahead cache.

Have you made any changes in settings, media, write speeds, etc., et.,?

Re: Trouble Burning Running With Scissors

I made a backup of this a couple of months ago with no problem. I do most every disc with "main movie" only as I don't like working thru all the other stuff. On some of the kid's movies, I'll do a full disc as they like the interactive stuff. As was said, you might need to clean the disc.

Re: Trouble Burning Running With Scissors

Hey All,

I did a FULL disk copy because I like to preserve the original DVD just as I (NOT me!) paid for it (My Wife paid for this one), seems weird DVDfab platinum can not copy it.

Can support Explain WHY since I paid for the software to make it happen? Do I need an upgrade, I have been able to copy a couple others but it seems I just bought the software & suddenly it fails AND if fails on a DVD I HATE LOL?

Steve

Re: Trouble Burning Running With Scissors

Hi Steve,

Could you please post the detail error message here?

We tested with "Running With Scissors", and it's ok for DVDFab to backup.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

Hi Steve. I've had to do some awful backups too. I can appreciate wanting all the content, but really on most discs about the only thing you lose are previews of future releases, or ads that you paid them to let you watch. Try Customize mode and select the "No Menus" option. This sort of "flushes" the IFO file that came on the disc and may be causing the problem. You can still include all the whining weeping extra features by checking the boxes in the title window, and have them play before (or after) the main movie. Be careful or you may forget to check tham as I often do.

When you disable menus, how do you get the extra features to play before of after the movie? Can they be set to always play after the movie?

Hi Fred! You can actually set them to play all before, all after, or certain ones before and certain ones after (I use that option on the Warner Night at the Movies discs). After selecting the titles/audio/subpicture elements you want to include, click on "Advanced Title Settings" and the window will pop up. The title order in the window will always be from the longest to the shortest. To change the placement of a title, single click it (turns blue) and use the UP-DOWN-TOP-BOTTOM keys to reposition it to the new play order. These keys are greyed out unless you select No Menus. A great DVDFab feature that I use a good bit. Tip: If you're as old as I am, jot down notes on what each title # represents. The Preview window is your friend.
