subtitles on movie only

The only negative effect of any copy I've done using Movie Only mode has been:

On my old pioneer player, the subs come up automatically and you have to turn them off.

Ony my new LG machine they don't, but in both cases you have to select and activate one of the English language sub options - the one that only comes up on a line of foreign dialogue like the Greedo scene in Star Wars Ep IV.

I don't mind so much if I have to select a sub option before watching a movie but my question is - does that option have a standard classification name?

I would like to be able to switch off all subs when I make the copy less the one I need for Greedo.

Does it have a name do you know?

Re: subtitles on movie only

Simply deselect the appropriate subtitle(s) (or subpicture as they are called in fab) prior to creating your bkup. You can do this with audio streams as well.

Yes, I can do that but I need to know what I'm deselecting. Is there a generic name for subtitles which remain off unless translating foreign dialogue? If I know this then I know not to deselect it.

No, the name of the language is just the same. But normally, the first is the full text, the second is the simplified one. If there are more (commentary, hard of hearing) you have to try which is which (compare the sequence of other languages, that might help).
