DVDFab / DVD Region+CSS Free Discuss, Stable version? at Copy Movie forum; This is a great thread. Incidentally, which recent version do people think is most problem free? I vote for 3.1.8.0. DVDFab needs to leave feature additions for awhile while they stabilise the many recent changes (such as Pathplayer).

Re: Stable version?

Yes, 3.1.8.0 seems to be most stable especially with dvd to mobile.

Hi All,

Version 3.1.8.0 is awesome. I use that version along with the lastest 4 version. I used the 4 version a few times. No problems!

Re: Stable version?

Serious question tho. Could Fengtao maybe come and say something? Wouldn't it be better to stop adding anything except copy protection updates for awhile and fix current bugs?

Surely at the moment new bugs are interacting with old. If you don't watch it you'll end up with a Nero 7.

Sorry

same here have 3180 installed but have been using all versions of 4 with very little trouble. i had an install issue at first but did a clean uninstall and reinstalled both versions. mostly the problems ive had are with using pathplayer. however i dont get around to testing all the features like i should and i dont regularly use the mobile options. i do most backups in main movie which has not been a problem at all.

dont understand this, I recall reporting 2 bugs around the time of this release that were fixed by 3.2.0.0 & at least one of those was a no-sound issue with one type of DVD encoding which affected generic or VOB copies. ( I think the other was a DVD which woudl not copy & which was fixed in the next release)

I could trawl back thru the forum & look for the links but let me just ask what does 3.1.8.0 do that 3.2.0.0 doesn't ???

PS & 3.2.0.0 introduced dual-core support for DVD to mobile - are all you 3.1.8.0 ffans still on single core PCS ???

Win2000 (for at least some) also will not do DVD to Mobile correctly after 3.1.8.0. See the posts from user GregRocket in Ting's thread and others.

cyb...

What's to understand? For what I do with DVDFab, 3.1.8.0 has been the most stable.

Could be .2 version is more stable. I'll be glad to compare. Do you have 3.2 for d/l?

Re: Stable version?

I think the "magic" associated with 3.1.8.0 is the fact that this was the last version released prior to PathPlayer which made its presence known with 3.2.0.0. I think also, there was a substantial breaking in period with PP.

While it was easy enough to understand the technology...seeing how it would operate in your system, was a horse of a different color.
There may have been other issues as well, such as clone mode glitches, etc., but to be honest, I don't recall any specifics.

I still have 3.1.8.0 installed on my system, although I can't remember the last time I used it. However, I haven't experienced any real trouble...other than the minor glitch with any particular version.

Myself, I'm still happy with my:
XP Pro SP2
P4 3.00 GHz
2 GB DDR Corsair RAM
About 1 terabyte of hdds
Liteon LH 20A1S, Samsung SH-S203B , Benq 1655 (X2), Liteon 165H6S

Re: Stable version?

But what about the point of this thread?

What do the developers think about resisting the addition of new features while bugs are sorted out? I think it is a good idea.

Like I said, you don't want to end up with a Nero 7 .....

hold off on additions......

I hope they are reading and listening and do exactly that. Get this current version reliable, stable, etc., then focus on copy protection updates.

Looks like some folks still having dvd to mobile issues like to PSP's.

Re: Stable version?

Fab is a great "earthly" program.
For those seeking a "perfect" solution, one must seek otherwordly providers.

Re: Stable version?

Has anyone else contacted Fengtao about not adding more features until bugs showing up at the moment are resolved? Seems like a very good idea to me.

Re: Stable version?

Please could someone respond to this. It's a reasonable question. Don't be cliquey board people, that's so internet nerd.

After buying the software you'd think people would be more helpful.

Re: Stable version?

I assure you there is no clique here, every question I’ve ever had these guys answered and then some. They probably, like I am, waiting to hear what all these “bugs” are. I use 4.0.1.6 a lot, DVD, PDA, PSP and even tried cell phone with no problems at all. I also use Nero 7 quite a bit with no issues. I might suggest that some of these “bugs” are not software related, if you feel they are then be specific and this bunch around here will get you going!

Re: Stable version?

For v4, 4.1.2.0 was very stable for me. For v5, it may depend on what disc you are trying to copy. The DVD to DVD modes in 5.0.3.5 Beta are working well for me.

I agreed with jsmiddleton4.

I think Fengtao should concentrate of making version 5 stable and good....which I am sure what FengTao are doing right now. Soon, version 5 will be like version 4.1.2.0.

Right now, DVDFAB is certainly one of the best DVD ripped program I have used so far. And I love it very much.

I tried several other DVD ripping programs (I should not name them here); some are FREEWARE other are SHAREWARE. Let me tell you, DVDFAB is certainly better than 90% of rippers.

On the rating of 1 to 10. (10 being the BEST). DVDFAB will get rating of :-

- 9 for Service & support
- 9.5 for development & improvement (including upgrades & updates)
- 8 for ease of use
- 7 for stability (version 5). 8 for version 4.1.0.2
- 6 for lack of documentation (ie:- No Help - must link to tutorial at site)

Looking forward, I am sure DVDFAB will continue to improve and will be come stable. On the other hand, a lot of DVD ripper companies have "separated" version of programs (ie :- DVD TO DVD, DVD to Mobile). Fengtao has already persue to having separate programs.

Soon, DVDFAB, may even add a new program BLU-RAYFab.......this will be extremely interesting.

Chow.
